Host Media runs its own network on its own IP space, hosted in UK data centres and backed by layered backups, proactive patching and transparent incident communication. This page collects the facts in one place, so you can check our claims rather than take them on trust.
Network & infrastructure
We are an independent host with our own network identity: a RIPE NCC member announcing our own IP space under AS201323, not reselling someone else's ranges. Primary infrastructure lives in UK data centres, with DDoS-protected bandwidth as standard across the network and dedicated firewalls built into our cloud platform.
Uptime & monitoring
We target 99.99% network uptime, measured over rolling 30 day periods, with the network monitored 24/7. Current and historical service health is published openly on our network status page, the same page our own team works from during any incident.
Patching & maintenance
Every part of the network is on a weekly review and update cycle. On top of that we monitor security advisories from our vendors, including the Linux distributions, control panels and platform partners we build on, and apply security patches as soon as they are released rather than waiting for the next scheduled window.
Incident communication
When an incident affects your services, you hear it from us. Critical incidents are notified directly to impacted customers, and updates are posted to the public status page as work progresses, so you are never left refreshing a silent dashboard.
Backups & recovery
Automated backups are included on every hosting service, with retention that varies by platform. Individual files and folders can be restored on the cloud platform without rolling back a whole site.

Backups are a safety net, not a substitute for your own. We recommend keeping your own off-site copies alongside ours, particularly before major changes.
Where your data lives
Hosting runs from UK data centres. Cloud platform data and its backups stay in the UK, with backups held off-site from the platform itself. Backup storage for VPS, cPanel and DirectAdmin services is provided by EU partners in Germany and Finland, with data transmitted to those locations securely. We publish this rather than rounding it to a tidier claim, because knowing exactly where your data sits is the point.
Compliance & privacy
We operate under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, registered with the ICO under ZA648414. Payments are handled on PCI DSS compliant systems with 3D Secure authentication.
